GroundhogBig groundhog around the camp.
Date: 07/23/2007
Monday morning while I was planning on taking some candid shots of Victoria and her group, I stumbled upon this groundhog chewing on some grass. I got a couple of pictures of him (or her) before he/she jumped over the rocks onto this ledge. Then I followed him/her to the end of the rocks where he/she disappeared. He/she was really cute, and we saw him/her a few more times during the week - just not with the camera in tow.
Candid VictoriaVictoria and her group on day one of camp

Here's Victoria (orange top with red-ish hat) walking off the sports field with her nine-to-12 group. Liana McMahon is in the pink top behind her. I decided to try to get some candid shots of the kids with their groups - didn't work too well, so this is about the only one.
Sand CastleBy the soon-to-be record sand castle
Date: 07/26/2007
James is standing by the site of the collaborative effort to build the worlds tallest sand castle. It is happening on Camp Sebago's beach, just around the cove from Camp Sunshine. There is a Web site on Camp Sunshine's site with more information: http://www.campsunshine.org/subdomains/onegrain/. Just over James' right shoulder is a dragon that is already carved in the sand; just part of what is to become the record castle.
The DragonCloser shot of the dragon

This is a closer shot of the dragon that will be outside the castle. It sure is something to see. James and I really enjoyed imagining what the finished castle might be.
The BaseThe base of the sand castle
Date: 07/26/2007
If memory serves, the base is 32 feet wide (diameter), and the finished height is to be 35 feet. In order to set the record, the structure must be taller than it is wide. This should do it!

Departing ShotOur three by the official Camp Sunshine Sign
Date: 07/27/2007
As we were leaving the camp, we paused for one last shot - the one by the Camp Sunshine sign. The kids may not look too happy because they were just crying about having to leave the camp and their new friends, but they were trying to smile the best they could. And it was kind of bright out, too. Just a note that from here on, the pictures were taken by the week's camp photographer who had more access to the camp than we did, so we relied on her camera for many of the shots.
